Sarvam raises $234M in Series B, joins India’s AI unicorn club
Sarvam, India’s full-stack sovereign AI company, has raised $234 million in the first close of its $300 million Series B at a $1.5 billion post-money valuation, marking its entry into India’s AI unicorn club. HCLTech and Bessemer Venture Partners invested in the round, with continued backing from existing investors Khosla Ventures and Peak XV Partners.
The funding will support Sarvam’s continued research into frontier models for agentic AI, coding, and cybersecurity, while expanding the compute and infrastructure needed to take its AI capabilities to enterprises and government organizations at scale.
Building AI for India’s scale and complexity
Sarvam is building a sovereign AI stack designed around India’s languages, context, and real-world needs. Its platform spans foundational models, speech, translation, conversational AI, document intelligence, agents, and the infrastructure required to train and deploy them in India.
From voice-led interactions to enterprise and population-scale applications, Sarvam is creating AI that can operate across India’s linguistic diversity while addressing high-impact use cases across banking, insurance, government, and other critical sectors. Its growing platform reflects a broader ambition: to build AI in India that can compete at the frontier while being designed for the realities of India from the ground up.
Building alongside Sarvam
KeyValue has been part of Sarvam’s product journey, working closely with the team to turn ambitious AI ideas into scalable, production-ready products. Most recently, KeyValue contributed to the development and launch of Indus, Sarvam’s sovereign AI chat app, with deep product ownership across the build.
Sarvam’s latest milestone is a significant step in that journey and in India’s broader push to build AI capabilities of its own. As the company continues to advance sovereign AI at scale, we’re proud to build alongside a team shaping the next chapter of India’s AI ecosystem.
